As believers we often have our guard up with the content of christian music. So many unbiblical and distorted biblical lyrics and ideas have crept into popular christian music. When we call a Psalm, a Psalm, it is the entire Psalm, every verse, every word (as close as is possible in the English) No bizarre interpretations or political angles. Simply the songs and the verses the LORD has put into his word. No difficult and hard to hear parts removed to keep these songs politically correct, or easy to hear. Rather scriptural songs that glorify God.
Complete with the unobscured passion and emotion of the LORD as he intended, with his power on display in his songs. His majesty, glory, sorrow, tenderness, compassion, judgment, love and wrath all on display.

The books of the bible and their scriptures are originally written in Koine Greek and Ancient Hebrew (with some select passages in other languages), both distinct from their modern forms in much the same way that modern English differs greatly from the English language of 800 years ago.
Both ancient Greek and ancient Hebrew have a unique property that only these two languages share. Each letter of their respective alphabets has a numerical value.
Unlike English that utilizes separate numerals from its alphabetic characters, ancient Greek and Hebrew use every letter of their alphabet. This is similar to Roman numerals from the Latin alphabet, however only some characters of their alphabet were/are used. What this means is that every chapter, every verse and every word in the bible has a numerical value. This is no doubt by design and is actually exhibited in scripture several times. The most famous example where this process is to be used is recorded in Revelation 13, however other examples exist as numbers simply recorded, such as 2 Kings 25:13-17 and equations for Pi and e imbedded in Genesis 1:1 and John 1:1 respectively.
This use of letters is called Gematria, from geometria (Greek), from which our word geometry is derived today. Many occult forms and twisted uses of this are present today. However the underlying numbers are a built in, innate characteristic of the word of God. Only this most basic biblical form is of concern here. Firstly, Psalm 119 is my favourite Psalm, mostly because I love the word of God more than anything else. This Psalm and each part is all about the word, it’s goodness, wisdom and the life to be found in God’s word.
The loving reproof and affliction that God subjects us to, to refine us and raise up his children, teaching us through love and pain, in joy and in tears, that his ways are The Way, and his Word leads to life.
Daleth, the Hebrew letter derived from the ancient Egyptian hieroglyph for doorway or path, and fish, was taken and adapted to Hebrew in the Sinai desert near an Egyptian turquoise mine in roughly the year 1850 BC.
Just like the hieroglyph it was derived from, Daleth in Hebrew carries this meaning of a doorway and pathway.
This use is evident in this portion of Psalm 119, as the Way of the man (the writer), the Way of God’s precepts and choosing the Way of faithfulness are all discussed. Ultimately this Psalm conveys the earnest plea, from the writer, to be taught God’s ways which lead to life, after finding their own ways to be inadequate;
As the opening line states, “My soul clings to the dust” Dust being a well known biblical idiom for death or lifelessness. (“”On your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat, all the days of your life.””) (“”And to dust you shall return””)
The hardship and sorrow of the writer of this Psalm leads him to the realization that his ways cling to dust, or death, and that God’s way, that is the WORD, the word being The Way, The Truth, and The Life, leads to life. Jesus is the word, the Logos, and he claims all of these titles.
The writer chooses his WORD in verse 25, his WAY in verse 27, and faithfulness that is the Hebrew word for TRUTH in verse 30.
Then in contrast to their life (or soul) clinging to dust in verse 25 their soul now clings to God’s testimonies. From Dust (Death) to God’s Word (Life)
God enlarges, (or broadens, in the Hebrew), the heart of the writer, and of the reader, through his Law, his Commandments, his Testimonies and his Rules, to teach those he loves as a father reproves a son whom he loves, so that those who obey God will live.
The Law was fulfilled in Jesus and written on the hearts of all of those that are his, whom he holds in his hand. These are those that love Jesus, which is to obey Jesus, and ultimately obeying God the father. Those that choose the way live. Jesus is the way, his is the only door and only path to the father as the letter Daleth reminds us.
